What's the difference between the INV-7 & INV-7 HG MkIII?

The key difference between the two mounts is whether or not you’ll be fitting any form of windscreen on the mics. The INV-7 HG is designed to support the mic from the rear, and allows weight to be added in the form of slip-on windscreen solutions (heavier than foams).

The INV-7 is a pure 'cradle' suspension with more complaint Lyres®, and can only handle a foam gag. The INV 7HG MkIII is slightly stiffer.

So ultimately, it depends on how you’re planning to use your mics.

    Hi Simon,

For a Schoeps CMC641 or an Oktava mk012, that sometimes I need to use outdoor with a Baby Ball and a Windjammmer, what is best, the INV-7 or INV-7 HG MkIII?

    Thanks!

    Hi Ramon,

Yes, your MkII version will be fine.

For the other mics we’d suggest the following:

    M930-TS: InVision USM-L
    Md300: InVision USM-L
    M900: InVision USM-L or INV-7 HG MkIII

    Cheers,
    Simon

So is the mkII version still should be OK on the m295?? I bought it few years back, haven't had a chance to use it.. what bout the regular INV-7?

Also what do you recommend for gefell microphones such as m930ts, m900 and md300, all same company..

How are the Aston shock mounts. If I'm not mistaking theyre also made by rycote? Any recommendations for above mics mentioned here, whether rycote or aston

    Hi Miguel,

Any time your fitting a BBG or Softie type of windscreen, we’d always recommend the INV-7 HG MkIII. The Lyre are softer, but slightly thicker to get better support when holding the mic further back.

    Hi Ramin,

We don't make the MkII version anymore, so my recommendation for the Microtech Geffell M295 is the INV-7 HG MkIII. The mic holder & Duo-Lyre are identical for the MkII & MkIII - it's just the boss & swivel that are different. The MkIII has more grip.

    Cheers, Simon
